No: 105, 18 April 2023, Press Release Regarding the Developments in the Republic of Sudan

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 18.04.2023

We are following with concern the ongoing severe clashes between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 15, 2023 in the Republic of Sudan.

As we approach the Holy Eid Al-Fitr, we call on both sides to exert restraint in order to prevent further bloodshed between brothers and harm to civilians. We believe it is only through dialogue and reconciliation that the current problems can be brought to a lasting solution. We underline the importance of declaring a humanitarian ceasefire urgently and fully implementing it in order to extend assistance to the civilians affected by the conflict. In this respect, Türkiye is ready to provide all kinds of support.

We are closely following the situation of Turkish citizens in Sudan. The current security conditions in the country do not allow travelling. In this regard, it is of great importance that our citizens keep remaining indoors at this stage.

In case favorable security and logistic conditions emerge, necessary guidance will be provided to our citizens who wish to leave Sudan.

Our Embassy and Consular Call Center are in close contact with Turkish nationals. Our Call Center keeps our citizens updated via phone calls.

We advise our citizens to closely follow the announcements made by and social media accounts of our Ministry and Embassy in Khartoum. Our citizens who have not registered yet with our Embassy, are kindly requested to use the phone numbers indicated below to provide their information as well as any requests they may have.
